Practicing Real World Handgun
Defensive pistol shooting as a sport is the use of practical equipment to solve simulated “real world” self-defense scenarios. IDPA is becoming one of the most competitive of the shooting sports and also one of the most economical. Shooters competing in Defensive Pistol events are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self defense use. No “competition only” equipment is permitted in Defensive Pistol matches since the main goal is to test the skill and ability of an individual, not his or her equipment or gamesmanship.
Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
The interest at our club has continued to grow and we are looking to increase the interest. IDPA Practice Sessions are held every Thursday from 7 -10 PM. No reservations are necessary for these informal practices, however you must be certified by attending the new IDPA Shooter Course prior to participating. Club members interested in shooting can email our IDPA new member coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are interested in learning more about IDPA, stop by a Thursday practice and remember to bring eye and ear protection.
Persons who wish to participate in IDPA at SaraSpa are required to visit/watch a normally scheduled (Tues/Thurs) practice. After which, they must complete our IDPA orientation program. You can sign up for an orientation session by clicking here.
During the course you will need the following:
Pick up the Official IDPA Rule Book. The rules were last updated in January, 2017.
