BULLSEYE

Bullseye Pistol, also known as Precision Pistol is a fun yet demanding sport which will increase your ability to shoot accurately. SaraSpa gives pistol shooters the opportunity to participate in league competition or to simply try their hand at this challenging sport.

About bullseye at SaraSpa

Bullseye pistol shooting includes three courses of fire: Slow, Timed and Rapid. We shoot .22 caliber pistols (optics are allowed but not required), offhand at 50 feet. For Slow Fire, the shooter has ten minutes to get off ten shots. Timed and Rapid Fire stages are each two strings of five shots. For Timed, the shooter has 20 seconds for each string. For Rapid, the time limit is 10 seconds per string.

SaraSpa fields a team in the Adirondack Foothills Pistol League. A total of seven clubs participate in the league and we shoot one home and one away match against each of the clubs. The season starts in early December and runs through late March. All matches are held at 7:30 pm on Monday evenings. There is a scratch match and a handicap match each night. After their first 3 matches shooters are assigned a handicap which is updated each week. Team scores are based on top five scratch and handicap scores, so everyone has a opportunity to contribute to the team. Individual awards are given at the end of each season for high score in each stage of fire and the highest average both overall and within each of four classes.  Team awards are presented on the basis of both scratch and handicap scores.

Except during the league competition season, practice and new shooter introductory  sessions are held on Monday evenings throughout the year.  Practice for league competition begins in Late October or early November. Practice sessions are open to members of the NYS Rifle and Pistol Association, the NRA as well as to SaraSpa and SCCP members. Shooters need a .22 caliber handgun and eye and ear protection. Most shooters use a semi-auto with a red dot sight and two or more magazines. However, revolvers with a five or more shot capacity can be used. Popular pistols among league shooters include the various Ruger Mark series, various models of the Browning Buckmark and the Smith and Wesson Victory. The participation fee varies from $3.00 to $5.00. New shooters are welcome and experienced members are usually available to offer helpful suggestions.
