HIGH POWER RIFLE

HIGH POWER RIFLE

SaraSpa’s high power rifle program stresses safe, low key events aimed at providing an opportunity for shooters at all levels to improve their marksmanship skills and track their progress over time. In the past, the program has included F-Class type prone shoots with either a bipod or sling, reduced course Service Rifle and High Power Sporter Matches which test the shooter’s ability to shoot offhand, sitting or kneeling and prone, a vintage military rifle shoot and NRA National Defense Matches which are a timed event requiring the shooter to shoot a variety of targets at varying distances while measuring both speed and accuracy.

Any Rifle (F-Class) Prone Shoot

New for 2017 there will be a rimfire class at 100 yards as well as a centerfire class at 200 yards

2017 Dates:

Saturday May 6 at 1:00 pm

August 19 at 10 am

Match Fees:

  • $5.00 Members,
  • $8.00 Non-members

These matches are open to all centerfire rifles, scoped or iron sights. Bring what you have. We will be shooting from the prone position. Exceptions will be made to allow for shooting from benches for those who are physically unable to shoot from prone. A bi-pod, rear bag and all optics are allowed. This is a chance to shoot that varmint or tactical rifle that you might have. We will focus on improving your skills at 200 yards or beyond.

We will be shooting at a NRA 600 yard target reduced for 200 yards (NRA MR-52 target). The course of fire will consist of unlimited sighting shots in fifteen minutes and 20 shots for record in 20 minutes. For shooters who need to establish a good 100 yard zero, 100 yard targets can be posted and extra time will be allowed.

Start time begins with safety briefing and explanation of the course of fire and a review of the range commands we will be using in the session.

STANDARD SINGLE-STAGE MATCH COURSES OF FIRE at 200 Yards

2 Person team-up so one person would spot/score while one person shoots, 2 Relays.

While NRA and CMP sanctioned service rifle matches require a semi-automatic look-alike of a modern US military rifle (M1, M1A or AR-15) SaraSpa Highpower rifle shoots are open to any rifle with a magazine capacity of four rounds or more. The course of fire for Sporter rifles is similar to that for service rifle. However, Sporter rifle shooters will shoot two strings of four shots in rapid fire stages with time between strings to reload.Scoped rifles are now allowed. Additional Items which are nice to have but not required are a shooting mat and spotting scope.

Start time begins with safety briefing and explanation of the course of fire and a review of the range commands we will be using in the session.

We will be using “NRA HIGH POWER RIFLE RULES REVISED JANUARY, 2016”
